Activities Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bittyworks LLC (“Bittyworks,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Activities app for iPhone, including its widgets, Live Activities, Control Center control and Siri and Shortcuts actions (together, the “App”). It is part of the Activities Terms of Use.
The short version
- We collect what the App needs to work: your activities and the time you track, and, only if you choose, your email address, name, friends and chats.
- No ads. No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
- Crash reports and usage statistics are not linked to your account, and you can turn usage statistics off in Settings.
- You can delete your data, or your whole account, inside the App at any time.
1. Who we are
The App is provided by Bittyworks LLC, a Texas limited liability company, 1441 Bonham Pkwy, Lantana, TX 76226, United States. Email: info@bittyworks.com. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), Bittyworks LLC is the controller of the personal data described here.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Activities and time records: activity names and categories; when sessions start and stop and how long they last; and settings such as a planned length (“Usually takes”), automatic stop, goals, and whether an activity is pinned or archived; and any notes and tags you add to a session, which only you can see.
- Account information (optional): if you sign in with email, your email address. You may also add a first and last name.
- Friends (optional): the email addresses you enter to send friend requests, your friends list (who is a friend and whom you blocked), the invite links you create (with your name and email address, and when each one expires), and the cheers you give friends’ sessions.
- Challenges (optional): challenges you start or join (name, goal, dates and who’s invited), which of your activities count toward each, and the time and number of sessions you add to it.
- Sharing and chat (optional): which friends you share an activity with, and the messages you send in an activity’s chat.
- Reports: if you report a message or a person, the report (whom you reported, the reason and any note you add) and a copy of the reported message. The person you report is not told who reported them.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Account identifier: a random user ID created by Firebase Authentication when you first open the App, including for guest accounts.
- Notification information: an app-installation identifier and a push token used to deliver notifications to your device, and your notification choices.
- Time zone: your device’s time zone, used to add up your time by day.
- Security signals: Firebase App Check uses Apple’s App Attest to confirm that requests come from the genuine App; this does not give us your personal information. Our service providers’ servers process your IP address to connect your device and protect the service; we do not use it to identify you.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): if the App crashes or hits an error, a report with technical details such as the crash log, device model, iOS version, App version and a random installation identifier. Crash reports are not linked to your account.
- Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase), only while “Share usage statistics” is on: which screens and features are used (for example, “an activity was started from a widget”), App version, device model, iOS version, approximate country or region (derived by Google from your IP address), and a random app-instance identifier. Usage statistics never include your activity names, chats, name or email, and are not linked to your account. Advertising features, advertising identifiers and ad personalization are turned off. This setting is off by default in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
2.3 Information that stays on your device
- Reminders and other scheduled notifications, Live Activities, App settings, and the data your widgets, Control Center control and Siri use (shared only between the App and its widget extension on your device).
- Siri and Shortcuts: when you use them, Apple processes your request under Apple’s privacy policy. The App receives only the resulting action, such as “start Reading.”
- Your Lock Screen: widgets, Live Activities and notifications can show activity names and timers on your Lock Screen, where anyone who can see your iPhone can read them. You can change this in iOS Settings.
2.4 Data from the previous version of the App
Earlier versions of Activities stored your data only on your device. When you first open this version, the App copies that data (your activities and their history) into your account so it can be backed up and synced.
2.5 Please don’t enter sensitive information
The App is not designed to store sensitive information, such as health, medical, financial, or government ID information, or information about other people. Please don’t put such information in activity names, categories or chats.
3. How we use information
- To provide the App: save, back up and sync your activities across your devices, including when you’re offline.
- To run the features you choose: friends, sharing, chat, reminders, automatic stop, goals and streaks, statistics, the weekly recap and routine suggestions.
- To send the notifications you allow.
- To keep the App secure and reliable: authenticate requests, prevent spam, abuse and fraud (for example, by limiting how many notifications one account can trigger), and enforce our Terms.
- To fix problems and improve the App, using crash reports and, if you allow it, usage statistics.
- To answer your messages, and to comply with the law.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. How information is shared
- With people you choose. When you send a friend request, the recipient sees your email address and name. When you share an invite link, anyone who opens it while it works (30 days, or until you reset it) sees your name and email address and can add you as a friend. When you cheer a friend’s session, they see your name with it, and friends it’s shared with see how many cheered. People in a challenge see its name and goal, each other’s names, and how much time (or how many sessions) each person added; they don’t see your other activities. Friends you share an activity with see its name and category, when you start and stop it, how long it lasted and the tags on its sessions (not your notes), and they can read and write in its chat. Everyone in a chat sees who is in it, including people who aren’t their friends (each person’s name, or email address if they haven’t added a name), and its messages with who sent each one. Your friends see your name, or your email address if you haven’t added a name.
- With our service providers, who process information for us under contract and only to provide their services: Google LLC (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, App Check, Hosting and Google Analytics for Firebase) and Apple Inc. (push notifications, App Attest, Siri and the App Store).
- For legal reasons and safety, when we believe in good faith that it’s required by law or legal process, or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or Bittyworks, or to prevent fraud or abuse.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
- With your consent, or at your direction (for example, when you share your weekly recap or the App through the iOS share sheet).
We do not sell personal information and do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, as those terms are defined in California and other U.S. state laws, and we have not done so in the past 12 months.
5. How long we keep information
- Your account and content are kept while your account exists, until you delete them.
- Deleting in the App: Settings → Danger zone → Delete all data deletes your activities, sessions and statistics and keeps your account. Delete account deletes your account and everything stored with it, including your friends list, your friend requests, your activities’ chats and the copies friends have of your shared activities. Messages you sent in a friend’s activity chat stay in that chat, like a message sent in a group conversation.
- Guest accounts: if you delete the App or reset your phone without signing in with email, your guest data can no longer be reached. We may delete guest accounts that have been inactive for 12 months.
- Reports of messages or people are kept for as long as needed to review them and keep the App safe, and no longer than 2 years.
- Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days; usage statistics for no longer than 14 months; server logs used for security and troubleshooting for up to 30 days; records used to limit abuse for a few days.
- We may keep information longer when required by law, to resolve disputes or to enforce our agreements.
6. Your choices and rights
6.1 In the App
- Edit or delete any activity or session; Delete all data; Delete account.
- Turn usage statistics on or off in Settings → Privacy.
- Choose which notifications you get in Settings → Notifications, and manage notifications, Live Activities and widgets in iOS Settings.
- Choose what you share and with whom, and remove or block friends at any time.
6.2 Requests
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent. Email info@bittyworks.com from the address on your account (or tell us how to recognize your guest account). We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time the law requires (for example, 45 days under California and Texas law, or one month under the GDPR, which may be extended where allowed). You can use an authorized agent where the law permits. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the word “Appeal.” We will respond within 60 days. If we deny your appeal, you may contact your state Attorney General (for Texas residents: texasattorneygeneral.gov).
6.3 California and other U.S. states
In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information, for the purposes in section 3, from you and your device: identifiers (user ID, email address, name, app-installation ID); customer records (email address, name); internet or electronic activity (in-app usage statistics, if enabled; crash reports); approximate location (country or region, from usage statistics, if enabled); and your content (activities, time records, chats). We disclose them for business purposes to the service providers listed in section 4. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. We do not sell or share personal information, and do not knowingly do so for consumers under 16.
6.4 European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
We rely on these legal bases: contract (to provide the App and its features you use); legitimate interests (to keep the App secure, prevent abuse, fix crashes and improve the App, balanced against your rights); consent (usage statistics, which are off by default in these regions, and notifications, which you allow in iOS); and legal obligation. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, withdraw consent at any time (this doesn’t affect earlier processing), and complain to your local data protection authority.
6.5 Do Not Track
We do not track you across third-party apps or websites, so we do not respond to Do Not Track signals differently.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest by our hosting provider, database rules that let each person reach only their own data (and what friends chose to share with them), App Check, and limits on abusive activity. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because email sign-in links are sent to your inbox, please keep your email account secure, and keep your iPhone protected with a passcode.
8. Where information is processed
We and our service providers process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate. When we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses included in our service providers’ data processing terms.
9. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. People under 18 may use the App only with permission from a parent or guardian, as described in the Terms of Use.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date, and for material changes we will also tell you in the App before they take effect. The updated policy applies from its effective date.
